What it involves
Cyber security is not a one-off purchase but an ongoing operation, and it is two different jobs at once. One is technical and runs around the clock: monitoring the network, workstations and backups. The other is demonstrating that the company meets its obligations under the Cyber Security Act (No. 264/2025 Coll., through which the Czech Republic transposed the EU NIS2 Directive), and that is work with rules, roles and evidence. The two rarely fit under one person. Technical monitoring needs someone who is on it every day; demonstrating compliance needs a role that is accountable for security and can defend it. Most companies the act applies to have never had such a role and would have to fill it. Both also include staff training, because most attacks start not with technology but with an ordinary mistake.
